This model was a hit when it first came out... It would have to be to survive this long and be "restyled" twice!

"The restyled TI-83 offers graphing tools for mathematics and science coursework, including statistics and finance. The TI-83 is the predecessor to the upgradable TI-83 Plus... Learn about the upgradeable TI-83 Plus and its available calculator software." - TI

This was a pretty good calculator, but has been outdated by the 83 Plus and 83 Plus SE. This calculator does not have an upgradeable Flash rom, and has much less memory than its successors.

TI-83 Plus
"This easy-to-use graphing tool is essential for classes ranging from algebra through pre-calculus and biology to physics. It also includes advanced statistics and financial features. Enhanced with Flash technology, this handheld technology gives you the flexibility to add TI-83 Plus software applications (Apps) and additional functionality beyond math and science, providing long-term value. These reasons and more have made the TI-83 Plus the best selling graphing calculator in the US and Canada. See also the TI-83 Plus Silver Edition." - TI

This model is TI's most popular and widely used calculator by students of all grades. It is relatively inexpensive compared to the other models, yet boasts a pretty large amount of memory (Yes, that means lots of space for games ;) and an upgradable Flash rom.

"The TI-85 has been discontinued. Its replacement for use in the classroom is the TI-86. To compare our calculators please visit our comparison matrix." - TI

The TI-85 was the predecessor to the 86; it lacks the large amount of ram, the new case, and some new features that the 86 has, but otherwise is extremely similar.

TI-86 Picture
TI-86
"Designed for college mathematics, engineering, and science, this graphing calculator's unique user-interface make numeric and graphical analysis of advanced topics easy. A suite of TI-86 features is being created for the TI-83 Plus and TI-89 in the form of free APPS, including: Polynomial Root Finder, Simultaneous Equations Solver, Differential Equation Graphing (built into the TI-89), Constants and Conversions (built into the TI-89)" - TI

This calculator has to be good, why else would I build a web site for it? And why else would TI release new apps for its other calculators to emulate some of its features? I believe it to be TI's greatest acheivement besides the 89. The 86, however, is easier to use and you can do math faster due to a better menu system and various other goodies (such as not having to stick in those annoying close parenthesis marks) than on the 89. Long live the TI-86!

Enhanced with Flash technology, this handheld technology gives you the flexibility to add calculator software applications and additional functionality, providing long-term value." - TI

This calculator is great! My favorite feature is the "solve(" command ;) It can solve practically anything! It also has many commands for calculus.

This is essentially the same calculator as the TI-89, but in a case with a QWERTY keyboard. WARNING: This calculator may NOT be used on SATs due to the keyboard. I guess it classifies as a computer ;)
